Jeevan Aanand Sanstha
Jeevan Aanand Sanstha (JAS), set up in 2013, is a Public Charitable Organization working in the social sector; helping the road-side destitute, orphans, physically and mentally challenged, & senior citizens by providing food, shelter, hospital services, education to orphan children for development & upliftment of society. improve their physical and mental wellbeing.
The JAS staff works closely with the roadside destitute with a focus on temporary rehabilitation. Individuals with severe wounds or any medical emergency are brought to the Carver Day/Night Shelters - Khar (male) &, Santacruz (female). JAS team members help in cleaning the destitute and they are enrolled in the shelter home, and they are provided nutritious food to help them improve their physical and mental wellbeing.
Simultaneously, JAS’s team initiates the search for the individual’s family members. At times, when there is no information received from the individual about any relative or family member, JAS team explores options for permanent rehabilitation i.e. the individual is moved to the JAS Homes – Samarth Aashram in Virar or Sanvita Aashram in Kudal, Sindhudurg. The Samarth Ashram, in Virar provides shelter for 20+ destitute and the Sanvita Ashram, in Kudal is ‘HOME’ for 100+ patients, homeless and children. Since its inception, the JAS team has been successful in providing meaningful intervention in the lives of
activities giving services to the neglected and marginalized class of the society who are deprived of essentialities of the living being. .Jeevan Aanand Sanstha believes that homeless people have the right to live in peace, dignity and security just like other citizens in India. However rights of the homeless people are violated every single day and night in the economic capital of the nation. They are often deprived of basic civic amenities such as water and sanitation, denied access to medical treatment, face daily beatings and harassment from the police and are compelled to sleep in the open because of lack of shelter facility.

Bacchubhai Parmar
On Sep 25, 2018, one of JAS’s donor Mr. Madhu Sadan called JAS personnel about an old man who had a fall near Kasturba Police station. The field team of JAS comprising of Priti Davte, Sampada Surve, Urupesh Gavde and Sandip Parab visited the place to check. On arriving at the location, he was already admitted at Shatabdi Hospital Kandivali. The JAS team visited the hospital to provide support. Meanwhile, Mr. Sandip Parab did the required cleaning and dressing for his wounds and the team then visited Kasturba Marg Police Station to get the necessary entries done.
He was provided with basic amenities such as food, shelter, clothes and medical support. One counselling session and a few group sessions were conducted as well. We learnt that he left home due to family property issues among his sons. JAS’s counsellor listened patiently and acknowledged his emotions and anger toward his family members.Over the days as his rapport with the counsellor improved, he took the sessions in a positive spirit. With all the medical and mental support, he is now in a better frame of mind and his wounds have also healed thus letting him walk without any discomfort. JAS team members help in cleaning the destitute and they are enrolled in the shelter home, and they are provided nutritious food to help them improve their physical and mental wellbeing.
Arul Raja Ram Redkar
Raja Ram Redkar, a homeless 60-year-old man was found in a miserable condition in Potdar Park, Malad on 8 Feb 2019 by PSI Mr. Shinde from Dindoshi Police Station. After receiving recommendation letter from the police station, JAS staff took Mr. Redkar to the Aashram. We bathed, treated and provided basic clothes, food and shelter to him.
He was provided with basic amenities such as food, shelter, clothes and medical support. One counselling session and a few group sessions were conducted as well. We learnt that he left home due to family property issues among his sons. JAS’s counsellor listened patiently and acknowledged his emotions and anger toward his family members.
JAS team members visited various high-risk areas to identify needy elderly people and provided services as per their need. The team identified 133 people on the roads and provided services to all of them this year. The JAS team provided food, health services, identified their relatives and collected family details. Eighteen out of thirty were referred to the Aashram and the remaining to other ashram.

A shelter to keep the homeless safe.
71 individuals enrolled in the shelter home during 2018-2019. Apart from those enrolled in the shelter, 133 individuals were identified from roadside, of which 123 were provided the required road-side care. 11 inmates were reunited with their families.Skill development sessions, exercise sessions etc.: Inmates painted 1000 diyas (clay oil lamp) during Diwali festival which was sold to visitors and NGOs. Of the total enrolled in the shelter home, 16 were with special needs.3 inmates were referred to other shelter homes.
